The official network of Shoktikonna
Shoktikonna is Bangladesh's network for women in STEM, energy and climate. We're opening university chapters nationwide — and we're looking for the students who will run them.
The network
Bangladesh is building solar parks, grid upgrades and a whole climate economy. Almost none of it is being built by women. Shoktikonna exists to change who is in that room.
We started as a leadership cohort — training young women in clean energy skills, pairing them with mentors, and walking them into the companies that are actually hiring. It worked. Graduates went into engineering, energy finance, and climate policy roles.
A hundred graduates across three cohorts is a start, not a pipeline. So we're turning Shoktikonna into a network: student-run chapters on campuses across the country, each one recruiting, training and connecting the next group of women into STEM, energy and climate careers. The ambition is straightforward — a Shoktikonna chapter in every university in Bangladesh, and a Shoktikonna alumna in every energy company that matters.
The Shoktikonna curriculum, reverse-engineered from real entry-level roles in Bangladesh's clean energy sector — not from a textbook.
Mentors who are working engineers, developers and analysts. Site visits to plants, substations and project offices. Employers in the room.
Internship and graduate referrals into partner employers, plus interview prep and onboarding support for the first job that counts.

What you get
Chapters run independently — you set the direction, the pace and the projects. What the network gives you is everything that is hard to build alone.
Session plans, slides, facilitator notes and exercises from the Shoktikonna Leadership Cohort — licensed to your chapter and ready to run.
Every chapter lead is matched with a working woman engineer, developer or energy professional. Your members get access to the wider mentor pool.
Site visits to solar plants, substations and manufacturing floors. Employer sessions with the companies building Bangladesh's energy infrastructure.
The Shoktikonna name gets your email answered — by departments, by employers, by the people you want in the room. Borrow the credibility while you build your own.
Delegate places at the Green Skills Summit, entry to the Solve-a-Thon, and the chance to present your chapter's project to partners and press.
Priority referral for internships and graduate roles with partner employers, CV and interview support, and an alumni network that keeps answering the phone.
For organisations
If your club, department, employer or NGO is already working on women in STEM, energy or climate, you don't need to start again. Affiliate with the Shoktikonna Network and plug into the curriculum, the mentor pool, the employer network and the national calendar.

Any woman enrolled as an undergraduate or postgraduate student at a public or private university in Bangladesh. You don't need prior leadership experience. You need a campus, two co-leads you trust, and a clear reason you want this.
No. Engineering, physics, environmental science, economics, business, architecture, computer science and public policy students all lead chapters. The energy transition needs financiers, communicators and policy people as much as it needs electrical engineers.
Roughly six activities a semester: one skills session from the Shoktikonna curriculum, one industry speaker, one site visit, a mentorship circle, a campus recruitment drive for the national cohort, and a project or Solve-a-Thon team. You set the pace beyond that.
No. There's no membership fee for chapters or members. Chapters cover their own activity costs, and the network provides the curriculum, brand assets and session materials free of charge.
Yes. Existing societies, departmental clubs and career offices can affiliate rather than start from zero — you keep your name and add the network behind it. Use the partner application above instead of the individual one.
The form takes about ten minutes. Shortlisted applicants are invited to a short online conversation, and every applicant gets a decision either way. Chapters are confirmed on a rolling basis, so applying early helps.
